Sequoia National Park, CA

It is always interesting to me to see how a park measures up to the image I have created in my mind while researching for a trip.  Most of the time the actual park is far better than the expectations I have built up for it.  Sequoia was no different in that regard but not only was it better than I thought, it was almost entirely different than what I thought it would be!  I had not wrapped my head around how steep the approach was-the vast scale of it all.  Of course the trees were far beyond my imaginings of "big" trees but even the vastness of the park was a surprise.  It just looked so small on the map!  Sequoia is surely a wonder based on the amazing trees it protects.  The trees are beyond the scale of what my mind thought could be possible.  We never did come to grips with them and every time we rounded a corner of the trail we were astounded once again.  But Sequoia NP is not just trees.  It is a wonder of ecosystems that transition into one another as you drive up and up in elevation.  It is a park of grand views, unique caves, wildlife, waterfalls, and quiet spaces.  We loved the park for it's trees and for its uniqueness.  When can you plan a visit to this special place?
