Small but mighty...that's how we think of Kings Canyon National Park. Although it is small on the scale of nearby Yosemite NP, it has some incredibly beautiful spots that shouldn't be missed. We found beautiful falls, peaceful trails that were completely un-populated, and the most stunning meadow I have ever seen. Don't pass on Kings Canyon NP because it is small-it is worth the effort. Head over to our Kings Canyon NP inspiration gallery to check out some of our favorite moments and places.

So...we don't blog much in the summer...that's because we're too busy being outside! Duh! I am in between trips at the moment and am struggling to get photos downloaded, sorted, edited and posted. I recently shared on FB our gallery of photos from Pinnacles NP and today got photos from Sequoia NP up. You can find the inspiration galleries for each park under our "trip reports" tab above and then under the "National Parks" tab or by clicking the green linked text above. We loved our time in California and will be posting more photos from the other parks as soon as we quit playing outdoors and find the time to get in front of the computer again!

If we had not already made plans for Yosemite and Glacier this summer, I know where we would be headed! Take advantage and learn more here: https://www.nps.gov/mora/planyourvisit/wilderness-permit.htm

Well, I've known it all along but now everyone in Spokane will know it too...My husband is "a beautiful thing to watch." That's right, according to Rich Landers of The Spokesman Review in a recent blog post, watching my husband pull a fellow boater back into the raft he had been ejected from was a beautiful thing to watch.
Over the weekend Harley went out on the Spokane River with Peak 7 Adventures to participate in their guide training. It was a cold, wet and wild weekend but great fun was had by all. Check out the rescue sequence caught by Rich Landers at his blog and enjoy some of the photos taken by Peak 7 Adventures volunteers below! (He's the one with the yellow helmet with a go-pro on top!)

We have some really great news for you today! As you may know if you've been reading along the last few weeks, we are counting down to this weekend when we are celebrating the release of our guide to all the parks in Utah. Today we announce the next two countdown items for your enjoyment:
First, our guide book "Utah's Big 5 National Parks with Kids" goes on sale starting tomorrow! We will be selling this guide book on Amazon on sale this weekend only. We are in the prime planning time for a summer vacation to Utah so go grab the book while it's on sale.
Also in anticipation of this launch we had the opportunity to be guest speakers on "The Familyman Podcast with Todd Wilson". Todd is all about encouraging men to be better fathers and better husbands, and we found a lot of common ground in our desire to help parents plan memorable and exciting family vacations. So if you want to be encouraged and get motivated to plan an epic family vacation, tune in to the podcast and let us know what you think! (Harley's segment starts around 13:13 minutes)
Check in tomorrow at www.nationalparkswithkids.com for our final family memories of our time in the Utah parks and we hope you find inspiration to start your own journey!
So if you live anywhere near the Spokane Valley, you owe it to yourself to check this place out. See the map below.
Today we blog from our other site about our favorite memories from our trip to Utah. This time Dad shares along with our 12 year old Tavin. I asked them each to write individually and it touched my heart so much to see what memory they each came up with. Check it out at http://www.nationalparkswithkids.com/blog .
